234 Days?

There are 234 days in a year until July 22, my birthday.

This year I've started a for-real diet and this blog will be the diary of that journey.  I'm hoping to lose a total of 55 pounds this year, but my first goal is 40 by my birthday.  I'm weighing in at a resplendent 180 pounds, so getting down to 140 by my birthday would be great.  Of course, if I can catch a diet propelling stomach bug or temporary case of anorexia to get there faster, I'm cool with it.  To keep my diet company, I've also embarked on the crazy adventure of learning the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. IV in G Major.  This is frankly way too advanced for me, but in about 4 measures a day I can conquer it by July 22.  This will probably also drive my piano teacher, Dan Kramlich, crazy - but bugging him has been part of my life's work for over 25 years.    I've done a lot of things people said I couldn't do........I rode in the MS150, I survived cancer and chemo, have stayed married for 15 years, raised two awesome children, and finished my degree and started my masters and my career at near-40.  In high school, I was so obsessed with making the all-state choir I skipped lunch every day for months and learned to solfege the entire Brahms Requiem. LOL! When I look at that list of accomplishments, getting skinny again and playing some Beethoven seems do-able.    This is my diary....feel free to follow along.  :)

  1. Daily afirmations are always the way to go. right it down, read it out loud, and it will happen. And if you can enjoy a glass of wine along the way - you know who to call.

Here is to you and your almight, achieveable accomplishment.
